IT Minister visits global semiconductor giant ASML in Netherlands

Union IT Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw visited ASML Headquarters in Veldhoven, Netherlands, today.

“India has started a new semiconductor industry and in the entire semiconductor industry, lithography, which basically means printing the circuit on the wafer, is the most complex and the most precision work which is required to be done”, said the IT Minister.

The Minister informed that ASML is world’s leading provider of lithographic tools. He added that ASML enables practically every chip which is manufactured in the world.

“Our fab in Dholera will be using the ASML equipment. So, I have come to visit here and understand their technology”, he said.

Shri Vaishnaw emphasised that ASML coming to India is going to be a significant development as many of the equipment manufacturers from all over the world are now looking at a base in India, because of the design capabilities, huge talent pool and the consistent policies of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

The Dutch MNC specializes in the development and manufacturing of photolithography machines, which are used to produce integrated circuits.

It enables the world’s leading chipmakers to mass produce patterns on silicon, helping to make smaller, faster, and greener chips.

ASML delegation participated in SEMICON India 2025, where it had expressed strong interest in becoming a partner in India’s semiconductor journey.
