Ambedkar Nagar, June 16
In a grand ceremony held at Katehari on Monday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 194 development projects worth Rs 1,184 crore, aimed at the comprehensive development of Ambedkar Nagar district. The event marked the inauguration of 102 projects and the laying of the foundation stone for 92 schemes.
Responding to requests from public representatives, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the renaming of Akbarpur Bus Stand to ‘Shravan Dham Bus Stand’—a tribute to the cultural and mythological legacy of Shravan Kumar from the Ramayana, symbolising filial devotion. He also declared that the Tanda Bus Stand will be named ‘Jairam Verma Bus Stand’ in honour of the late Jairam Verma.
The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to developing Shravan Dham as a religious and cultural tourism destination, highlighting its ancient legacy. He also reiterated the state’s focus on promoting tourism in Shiv Baba Dham, where he offered prayers for the happiness and prosperity of the people before the public event. He noted that several development works in Shiv Baba Dham have already been completed, with the remaining progressing rapidly.
During the program, CM Yogi shared that Rs 561.86 crore has been disbursed to 11,690 farmer families across the state under the Mukhyamantri Krishak Durghatna Kalyan Yojana, including 431 families from Ambedkar Nagar alone. The scheme extends benefits to farmers, sharecroppers, agricultural labourers, and their families. He added that financial assistance ranging between Rs 500 crore to Rs 1,050 crore has been allocated for this initiative from FY 2020–21 to 2025–26.
“There is no dearth of funds,” the Chief Minister stated, “and we are conducting camps in every tehsil to ensure that disaster-affected farmer families receive prompt relief.” The Chief Minister also announced the establishment of a fire station and fire brigade unit in Bhiti Tehsil, with the foundation stone to be laid soon. These initiatives aim to enhance infrastructure while preserving regional heritage and creating new avenues for employment and tourism.
The 194 projects span several key departments, including, 14 projects of the Public Works Department, 72 under the Jal Jeevan Mission, 4 by the Electricity Department, 6 related to law and order/security, and 13 tube well projects.
Additionally, major initiatives such as the inauguration of the Mukhyamantri Kalyan Mandapam in Raje Sultanpur, laying the foundation for a rural stadium, as well as projects related to the Government ITI, Polytechnic, Medical College, road connectivity, drinking water supply, and nursery revival are expected to accelerate district development further.
Meanwhile, appointment letters were distributed on the occasion to the newly recruited doctors, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, ANMs, and other personnel. CM Yogi noted that, under the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, over 60,000 constables were recently inducted into the Uttar Pradesh Police force, including more than 12,000 women. Reflecting on the transformation since 2017, the Chief Minister said, “Earlier, jobs were auctioned off. Today, youth are securing employment purely based on merit.”
Reiterating the state government’s zero-tolerance policy towards crime, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that Uttar Pradesh has become a riot and crime-free state. Issuing a stern warning to those who threaten the safety of women and traders, he said, “The baton of the law will strike so hard that it will be remembered for seven generations.” He further informed that a time-bound framework has been established to resolve revenue disputes, ensuring speedy justice for the poor.
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure effective implementation of the pension scheme for destitute women, underlining the government’s commitment to their financial security. Extending wishes for the upcoming month of Shravan, he said the festival represents enthusiasm, devotion, and collective joy.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a sharp attack on those opposing the state’s development and indulging in family-centric politics. He accused them of exploiting caste for personal political gain, using divisive tactics, and attempting to dampen the public’s enthusiasm. “They engage in a naked dance of casteism and try to fracture the unity of society,” he said, asserting that his government is firmly committed to exposing and confronting such disruptive forces.
The Chief Minister remarked that Uttar Pradesh has shed its earlier tag of a ‘Bimaru’ state and emerged as one of India’s leading economies. He highlighted the transformative development taking place in Ambedkar Nagar—such as the construction of a medical college, polytechnic, and tourism infrastructure—which is helping redefine the district’s identity.
Expressing gratitude to the people of Katehari, CM Yogi said that by electing Dharmaraj Nishad—a son of a poor family—as their MLA, they have made a significant contribution to the region’s development. He also stated that markets with populations between 20,000 and 25,000 can be upgraded to Nagar Panchayats if they meet the required criteria.
