NEW DELHI, March 24, 2022—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Aam Aadmi Party was the “B” team of the BJP was validated yet again by the Lt. Governor’s address to the Budget Session of the Delhi Assembly, and Chief Minister Arvind’s reply today, as Arvind only talked about irrelevant issues like films instead of focusing on the problems of the people of Delhi, and solutions to address such problems. He said that the Lt. Governor’s address was only an endorsement of what the Arvind Government wanted, was validated by Leader of the Opposition, BJP’s Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, who said that “the LG reads out the draft sent by the Delhi Government!”, which was an exercise in mutual back scratching.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that CM Arvind should have criticized the BJP move to merge the three Municipal Corporations of Delhi and postpone the MCD elections. He said that if it was due to BJP’s corruption in the MCDs during its 15-year misrule that the Modi Government decided to merge the Corporations, then what had the Arvind Government done to stop corruption in the MCDs for the past eight years, and why didn’t the Delhi Government undertake an audit of the MCD spending?
Ch. Anil Kumar said that the people of Delhi expected a clear stand from Chief Minister Arvind about the Modi Government’s decision to merge the MCDs, but Arvind kept mum as he was on the same page with Modi in the unification of the MCDs. He said that CM Arvind also did not discuss where the funds will come, to tackle the fund crunch of the MCDs, as the BJP accused the Arvind Government of oweing Rs 13,000 crore to the MCDs. He said that CM Arvind was more concerned about providing jobs to the wards of the BJP MLAs instead of the unemployed youth of Delhi, which was apparent from Arvind’s irrelevant speech.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that common people are deeply upset and concerned about the liberalized liquor policy, as it was not only ruining the unemployed youth, but also destroying families as young people are getting addicted to liquor about which Arvind made no mention.
