Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai pays courtesy call on President Droupadi Murmu, invites her to ‘Bastar Pandum 2026’
New Delhi, January 3, 2026 — Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today paid a courtesy call on the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, in New Delhi. On this occasion, the Chief Minister formally invited the President to grace the state-level tribal cultural festival ‘Bastar Pandum 2026’ as the Chief Guest.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Sai apprised the President of the rich tribal art, culture, traditions, and folk life of the Bastar region. He stated that Bastar Pandum is a significant initiative aimed at the preservation, promotion, and national and international showcasing of Chhattisgarh’s tribal heritage. The festival will be organised in three phases, with the final phase scheduled to be held in Bastar in February 2026.
The Chief Minister also briefed the President on the Chhattisgarh government’s efforts towards the holistic development of tribal areas, including progress in education, healthcare, livelihoods, expansion of basic infrastructure, and the implementation of various public welfare schemes. He emphasised that the state government is continuously working to integrate the tribal community into the mainstream of development while preserving their unique cultural identity.
President Smt. Droupadi Murmu appreciated the initiative connected with tribal culture and extended her best wishes for the successful organisation of Bastar Pandum 2026.
Notably, Bastar Pandum 2026 will feature an extensive showcase of various cultural expressions, including folk dances, folk songs, traditional musical instruments, handicrafts, tribal cuisine, traditional attire, and other forms of tribal art and culture.
